Hullabaloo website Design + dev for a London restaurant chain
Chef Baloo required a website to accompany the brand solution, design agency Superfried had recently developed for his new London-based Vegetarian and Vegan, Indian street food venture – Hullabaloo Deptford. Consequently, I brought in the web development services of regular collaborator James at Cotton Creative for the build.
To continue the vibrant style developed previously for the brand identity system, simple carousels were utilised to present authentic shots of India, the signature dishes, and Baloo's happy diners. The relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant and rapport with his loyal customers are further conveyed via an efficient, automated gallery page replicating their Instagram feed. To balance the bold, brand colour palette of orange, turquoise, and magenta, black and dark grey were adopted for the backgrounds of webpage layouts throughout. The use of strong muted tones also helped to continue the contemporary feel of quality, modern cuisine, a key requirement to maintain their brand perception.
The detailed menu is accessed via an animated system – clicking a section heading highlights and animates the relevant content into position. The remainder of the menu is dimmed to enhance the user interface design. Naturally, the webpage designs are fully responsive and managed via a CMS backend.
